Tesco are claiming they will only hand out plastic bags to people who ask for one, but I was in there the other night and the guy had one ready before I was at the till.
I dont think they are really serious about it, just looking for publicity.

quelle suprise!
ReplyDeleteIs it realistic to expect a business like Tesco to not offer plastic bags?? Tesco gets lots of non-local business from people visiting. I support the no bag policy, but let's face it, it's much easier for the local optician to forego bags than it is for a grocer.
ReplyDeleteThat is true, and they have not promised to stop giving out bags, only to ASK people if they want one,. But they are not doing this, they give them out without asking people. This is a failuyre to meet their own pledge that they made publicly to our group, and to my mind, this is wrong! They are getting a good deal of London publicity about how they are doing this, but its simply not true and we have privately had a few commments from people who have been angered by this.
